Make a fist with one hand, then pop out one finger at a time. Then spread your arms open wide and clap.

Five little peas in a pea pod pressed,
One grew, two grew and so did all the rest,
They grew, and they grew, and they did not stop,
They grew so big that the pea pod popped!

Oats and Beans and Barley
This singing game is usually done with older children with one child in the centre for the farmer. In the last verse she chooses a partner to swing with and then that child becomes the farmer. [We skip the kiss] With small children we all dance together and swing with our own child and give them a kiss.
1. Oats and beans and barley grow,
Oats and beans and barley grow,
Do you or I or anyone know,
How Oats and beans and barley grow?
2. First the farmer plants his seed.
Then he stands and takes his ease.
He stamps his feet and claps his hands,
And turns around to view his land.
3. Waiting for a partner, Waiting for a partner.
Open the ring and let them in,
And kiss them ‘fore we start again.
