This song was so much fun to sing that I decided that I wanted it to be longer so I wrote a few more verses in the style of the Darby Ram…believe it or not!

Lyrics

As I came over yonder hill,
I spied a mighty turkey.
He flapped his wings and he spread his tail,
And his feet looked awful dirty.

chorus : Fol-link-a-tidy,
Fol-de-link-a-tidy-o,
Fol-link-a-tidy,
And his feet looked awful dirty.

I’m sure he weighed 500 pounds,
Or maybe it was more-o.
He shook the ground when he stamped his feet,
And he trampled down the meadow.

This turkey was full 10 feet long
From his hind end to his wattle.
Five grown men could ride that bird
If on him they could straddle.

I tried to catch that great big bird,
I know that he’s a prize winner,
But he flapped his wings and away he flew
And he won’t be my dinner.

As I came over yonder hill,
I spied a mighty turkey.
He flapped his wings and he spread his tail,
And his feet looked awful dirty.
